In the article “Divorce affects children” By an unknown source informs parents about the risk children could get from divorces. The websites view point is that there is risk mentally and physically as an outcome of divorce. The websites view point is this because it states that “Children…have more health problems behavioral issues and emotional disturbances in there life time.” The articles text structure is cause and effect because it says the cause divorce on kid and the effect the mental and physical problems as an outcome. The author of this piece uses almost no conflicting evidence since this is to inform. The author of this article does have a slight bias and that is that divorce is a bad thing. I can tell this because in the article he manly states how it affects children badly and not how it could affect them in a good way. Some words the author used to show the bias are “many” “consequences” “profoundly” and “fundamental”. The article uses ethos in the article because it helps him show his bias in the article even though it is not persuation. This is a good source because it has very little ads no spelling mistakes and it has a copy right, other sources and a good design layout plus it has a place where you can ask questions and get answers.
in the article “Divorce! Its good for children” By Jane Smiley is persuading people that divorce is a good thing for kids. Smileys view point is that good things can come out of a divorce. Her view point is this because in her article she says step kid and your kids get “ …friends and allies as well as play mates.” The kind of text structure she uses is cause and effect because she says the cause how divorce is at a high rate and that its effecting kids in a big way and then she says the effect, how children are being affected in a positive way. She also uses the text structure description because she describes how divorce can be good for kid and she states example to in the article of how it makes kids happy. In the article smiley does not put in any conflicting evidence because she persuades you to only look at one side and not the other. This Shows that smiley has a slant for saying that divorce is good for children. She says her slant when she says “So far be it from me to praise divorce”. Some connotation word used in this article are flexibility, imagination, vivid, and appealing. Smiley uses the persuasive strategies of ethos. This is when she says “Falling in love is an expression of freedom and so is divorce.” Showing a moral value of having freedom. The accuracy of the source is semi good there are some adds and there are links along with a place where you can put your own opinion plus a copy right date.
This article by an unknown source persuades parents and others about how divorce is a bad thing. The authors view point is that divorce is a horrible thing that hurts children. They say this when they state “Divorce traumatizes children…” The text structure that is in this article is description because they describe how divorce is a bad thing and how it can seriously hurts children. I know this because the article says “A child who’s parents are divorced may feel liked there sucked into a vortex of loneliness guilt and fear.” In this article the author does use conflicting evidence when she says “ Some children may become psychology scarred from the experience and others may not be affected at all.” The way she describes how divorce is bad for kids and how she uses her words says that she has the slant that divorce it bad for children. Some connotating words she uses are vortex, traumatizes, loneliness, sleeplessness, deranges, magnitude, and psychologically scarred. In this article the author uses pathos to persuade then reader. The author uses pathos when they say “Divorce deranges the idea of order for a child. This is why broken promises- some things as small as a baseball game- take on a magnitude far beyond actual significance.” The accuracy of this of this website/ article is strong because they have very little ads some links and sources from where they got information like doctors and psychologist. Also they have a very nice setup for there article.
